But which of the options is better?
Full mouth dental implants VS conventional dentures
Let’s have a look at the differences between full mouth dental implants and conventional dentures.
Full mouth dental implants have several advantages that make them better than conventional dentures, including:
-They look and function like natural teeth and are more stable and long lasting, so they can help you eat foods that are hard to chew with conventional dentures.
-In addition, they don’t require more than daily brushing and flossing necessary for natural teeth, unlike conventional dentures which need to be removed and cleaned after every meal, in addition to soaking in water at night.
-They also integrate with jawbones keeping them healthy and giving a shiny intact smile. While with conventional dentures the bone that surrounds the teeth will deteriorate over time.
-Self-confidence increases through permanent and very natural dental restoration.
Full mouth dental implants steps:
This procedure is done by using three components:
– The implants: they look like screws and are fixed into the jawbone.
– The artificial teeth: which look and function like natural teeth.
– The abutments: that are placed into the implants and help to attach the new teeth to the implants.
The procedure begins by peeling back gum flaps using a scalpel to expose the underline jawbone. (In some cases a small circular incision may be done to access the jawbone).
Then the jawbone will be drilled to insert the implant into it. Temporary teeth can be worn over the implants. If that is not possible, temporary healing caps will be placed into implants to preserve the implant’s interior from surrounding factors.
The gum tissue will then be trimmed and repositioned back over the jawbones and around the implants. The gum tissue will be fixed by sutures which will be removed after seven to ten days.
In two to six months, the implants will bond with the jawbones forming an anchor for new teeth. After that the healing caps (or the temporary teeth) will be removed and the abutments will be attached. The gum then needs two weeks to heal.
As for the last step, it is completed by attaching bridges or dentures (created to replicate natural teeth) to the abutments.
This procedure is performed with great success in our dental clinics in Turkey, with professional specialists and advanced equipment, you will regain your self-confidence, your bright smile and your ability to chew and speak normally.
